At Sackett Family Farm, the health of our goats is our top priority. Many livestock diseases and parasites can be carried unknowingly on shoes, clothing, or hands. Even a quick visit from someone who has recently been around other animals can introduce something harmful to our herd.
We are a closed herd and we test yearly for CAE, CL, and Johne’s disease. This means no outside animals come onto our farm, and we carefully guard against exposure.
For that reason, our barn is closed to general visitors. When you purchase a goat from us, we’ll gladly make safe arrangements for you to meet your new kid in a designated viewing area away from the main barn.
This policy helps us keep our herd healthy and thriving — and ensures that when you bring home a Sackett Nigerian Dwarf, you’re bringing home a healthy, well-cared-for animal.
